Heat Cramps
Painful muscle spasms that happen when your body gets too hot during physical or strenuous activity
Symptoms
Treatment
-
Heavy sweating during intense exercise
-
Painful tightening or squeezing of muscles
-
Stop physical activity and move to a cool place
-
Drink water or sports drinks with electrolytes
-
Wait for cramps to go away before you do any more physical activity
-
Get medical help if:
-
1) cramps last longer than 1 hour,
-
2) you’re on a low-sodium diet,
-
3) you have heart problems
